Sangeet Kala Vihar

The Mandal has to its credit a unique distinction of publishing a monthly magazine viz. Sangeet Kala Vihar in Hindi & Marathi since 1947.  During these years it has published valuable and thought provoking literature for the benefit of its members and students. The special issues published by Sangeet Kala Vihar are :

In the year 1990-91 two special issues namely, ‘Khayal’ and ‘Thumari’ were published by the Sangeet Kala Vihar which proved to be a grand success among the readers.

In the year 2001-02, the Sangeet Kala Vihar published two special issues namely, ‘Carnatic Sangit’ and ‘Sangeet Ke Bharatratna’.

In the year 2002-03, the special issue of ‘Sangeet Padmavibhushan’ was published

In the year 2005-06 two special issues of Sangeet Kala Vihar namely  ‘Pandita Mogubai Kurdikar’ and ‘Platinum Jubilee of Mandal’ were published. 

Besides this magazine the Mandal also has to its credit some significant publications like Music of India, Paluskar Biography, Navrag Nirmiti, Sangeet Alankar etc. to name a few. 

Mandal has unique distinction of having collection of more than 2500 hours of live recordings of Classical music under its Sound Library Project(SLP). This has been scientifically catalogued and maintained. This wide range of collection is being used for education purpose by providing listening booths. There is no profit or commercial motive in the project. SLP is now engaged in transferring the cassette recordings on to CD's. 

Mandal has constituted a new committee at the commencement of tenure of this 25th (Silver) Governing Council viz Research and Publication Sub-Committee. This Committee endeavours to publish rare books on music and engaged in research material and subjects to Research Scholars.
